The Natural World Centre

0 out of 5

A modern and sustainable visitor centre, Natural World offers children an early insight into eco-friendly living. The permanent exhibition, Our Changing World addresses many of the 21st century issues affecting the environment, climate change and the future of the planet. The exhibitions are interactive and informative and the Boardwalk Café with stunning lakeside views contains a wealth of Lincolnshire food. The centre is located in Whisby Nature Park, a former sand and gravel quarry which has seen a renaissance during the past 20 years. Now there are marked pathways circling lakes, heaths and woodland. A number of former pits have been used as sediment lagoons and are home to wet willow scrub and clay grasslands. The area hums with wildlife with over twenty eight species of butterfly and a host of small and strange water insects including water ladybirds, scorpions and stick insects.
