Got Wind’s phone charger debuts at Glastonbury

Gates opened for Glastonbury this morning, (sorry if that gives you a churning jealous feeling in the pit of your stomach). While the majority of us are either not bothered or supposed to settle for watching it on TV, the ticket holders may well annoy you by holding the phone up to the sounds of Paolo Nutini or texting you pictures of Dame Shirley Bassey.

Hopefully their phones will run out after the first day, but an invention from Gotwind might propel them to continue for longer.

Commissioned by Orange, a wind-powered tent-mounted mobile phone charger prototype will be making its festival debut at Glastonbury.

With wind speeds of 12mph for 24 hours the charger can store enough energy to fully charge an average phone from empty. Darn it.

If it’s any consolation, if their phone’s fully charged it might mean it’s windy where they are.

Green tv will be relishing in the mud, to film the charger as well as other green things that’ll be going on, like Oxfam’s carbon neutral gym and Sustran’s pedal powered Scaletrix. You can keep up with the green goings on online.
