Cindy Crawford helps launch the ‘Thirsty for Change’ campaign
Pur Water Filtration is teaming up with supermodel Cindy Crawford to launch a US campaign that encourages the use of filtered tap water and the avoidance of bottled water.
Crawford has designed an 'eco-chic' reusable water bottle for the campaign called 'Thirsty for Change', which launches in May. All proceeds from the water bottle sales will go to Children's Safe Drinking Water, a charity that provides families in developing countries with access to clean drinking water. She has also written nine, easy to follow green tips for everyday life.
Each year 38 billion plastic water bottle are thrown into landfills. Crawford says that by switching to filtered water and a reusable bottle individuals can save up to 3,200 water bottles per annum and that filter water is about a tenth the cost of bottled water.
She said, 'Like me, many moms today are concerned about the environment. We all want to live a little greener and do our part for the planet and for the health our families. The good news is that even small changes can make a huge impact on the environment. And that’s great news for my family because changes that fit easily into our hectic routine are the ones that are going to stick to.'
