Countrymen, your countryside EcoFair needs you

'If you build it they will come.' That's what they said in Fields of Dreams and that's what the organisers of Sussex's EcoFair are hoping for whilst organising the region's first fair this summer.

The EcoFair's an ambitious affair, with a series of zoned streets criss-crossing the park and stalls on everything from sustainable building material to local produce. Not only are organisers hoping the local community will attend, they are actively recruiting businesses and residents to get involved with ownership of the event.  ‘EcoFair is an exciting event and the first of its kind in the mid Sussex area.' Says Joanna Saady, director of ecotecture and the founder of the EcoFair event. 'It has been set up to educate local people on the ethos of sustainability and raise awareness of the environmental issues that have dominated society in recent months. In my experience people want a greener way of life; they just need some help to take the first step.'

'The EcoFair will be a starting point that gives people from across Sussex easy access to expert advice as well as sustainable products and services.' Corporations and the community are being urged to get involved to help make the launch of Sussex’s first EcoFair a success. The event, which is being run in conjunction with Burgess Hill Environmental Issues Forum and Mid Sussex District Council, comes at a time when local residents’ concern for the environment is at an all time high. This is a way to galvanise the region into 'going green', says Saady. Organisers are currently looking for sponsorship support media partnerships and for local, like-minded companies to get involved.
