Dell sets April date for UK tree-planting

It transpires Dell's tree-planting scheme is coming to the UK after all.

Newconsumer.com can exclusively reveal that the Plant a Tree for Me offer - where you carbon offset your PC's electricity usage while buying a Dell - launches in the UK in April.

Dell's press office can't tell me yet how the pricing will work (it's $2 or $6 in the US), what specific date or any other further details, but I take back my cynical speculation yesterday that - like Apple's iPod recycling service - the scheme would never make it to the UK.

It certainly reinforces my perception that Greenpeace is right in lauding Dell's green initiatives and panning Apple's eco credentials.

More news as we get it.
