Designers rework second-hand clothing to launch Oxfam Boutiques Designs for life at Oxfam's new Westbourne Grove boutique

Oxfam launches its new fashion boutiques today with a young designer eBay auction, ahead of the first store opening on Saturday.

Seven pieces have been reworked from Oxfam’s second-hand clothing and fabrics to create one-off pieces by Giles Deacon, Henry Holland, Christopher Kane, Jonathan Saunders, Richard Sorger, Jens Laugesen and Stephen Jones. Fabrics incorporated in the designs vary from evening gowns to duvet covers.

Jane Shepherdson, brand director of Topshop, has been working with Oxfam to create the boutiques: ‘These boutiques are all about creating a great shopping experience,’ says Shepherdson. ‘Oxfam has always been a place where stylish people hunt for interesting items to create their look, the boutiques are set to make that even easier.’

The first boutique will open in London’s Westbourne Grove on Saturday, with two more opening in West London over the summer, and there are plans for more boutiques across the UK next year. The sustainable fashion will fall under five categories.

Loved for Longer is high quality donated fashion, as it is with no alterations needed.

Fair Trade Fashion speaks for itself - it's a certified range of fashion and accessories that connect customers and producers, with labels like People Tree, Green Knickers, Casa Copenhagen and Wright and Teague.

Reinvented is pieces that have been reworked from donations by young designers including Defraye, Junk (Jumble) and London College of Fashion.

Made with Love is an accessories collection made by volunteers.

Good Fashion Sense is a range designed to make a difference - organic, recycled, made from alternative fibres or working toward Fair Trade accreditation. Labels include Junky Styling, Sea Salt and Amana.

The boutique stores are set to make those great charity shop finds even easier while promoting ethical fashion, and each great find will raise money to fight poverty around the world.
