Ethiopia: The Partnership Which Makes A Difference
In Hintalo Wajerat, Ethiopia, 17 out of every 100 children will die before they reach their fifth birthday. Poor sanitation and limited access to safe water are the main contributing factors, with a mere 22% of people having access to safe water and just 6% having access to adequate sanitation. The current situation is in desperate need of change, and change is exactly what’s about to happen.
Eco pioneers Ecover have partnered up with international charity WaterAid in a 3 year deal which will provide sustainable access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education. Working across 11 villages in the region, Ecover and WaterAid will be improving the lives of 14,750 people by providing:
- Construction of 4 gravity water supply schemes
- Construction of 5 protected springs,
- Construction of 8 hand dug wells fitted with hand pumps
- Construction of a rain water catchment scheme for a school
- Construction of a rain water catchment scheme for a health centre
And believe me – that’s just the start of it. Find out what else they’re doing, and see how you can support this vital project here.
