From Somewhere opens up shop

The fashion industry’s fickleness creates a lot of waste for landfill, that is unless From Somewhere sweeps down to scoop it up first.

From Somewhere has been rescuing discarded silks, cashmeres, cottons and the like, since 1997, and creating collections entirely from the fashion industry’s waste.

6 June sees the opening of its first UK store, which will house the latest ‘reclaimed-to-wear’ collections, in Notting Hill.

Orsola de Castro, designer and creative director, said: ‘The inspiration for our new collection is like a dreamy reinterpretation of an untidy dolls house, where Hollie Hobbie and Disco Barbie live together in blissful harmony.’

The store will also house one-off recycled shoes and bags, and will be previewing a new line of cocktail tops and dresses. The cocktail range is produced by a community project in Italy that helps rehabilitate people affected by mental disorders and addiction.

On the opening day visitors can peruse the collections with a glass of organic wine - mind the red.
