Lastminute.com launches paperless phrase books

Lastminute’s free phrase books can be downloaded onto your mobile.

The ‘guidebooks’ are currently available in French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese and Greek, with more languages to be added in the near future.

Once your guide’s downloaded, you can look up a phrase on your phone, which will then be translated on your screen and ‘spoken’ to you to help with pronunciation.

The downside is the guides are only available for certain Nokia or Sony Ericsson phones at the moment.

However if you’ve got one of those phones it means: ‘Instead of you having to flick through the pages of a phrase book to find what you want to say, you simply click your phone menu, select the phrase you need and voila!’ said lastminute’s Mark McCulloch.

It also means you don’t have to buy a paper guide, particularly if it’s something you‘re only going to use once.
