Now Nokia chargers tell you to unplug

Nokia has released a new feature to alert users to unplug their phone from the charger once the battery is full.

If you leave your charger on, it keeps using energy even if the phone is fully-charged - so until now you’ve probably let your charger run longer than it needs to.

Customers buying a Nokia 1200, 1208 or 1650 will now receive an alert when the phone - and charger - are ready to be unplugged.

The company plans to make the feature universal across the whole product range, claiming this could save enough energy to power 85,000 phones (provided everyone unplugs their chargers when alerts are received).
