Patagonia joins Bluesign to reduce environmental footprint

Patagonia, a pioneer in the development of sustainable textiles and clothing has become the first clothing brand to join the bluesign standard.

Bluesign supports companies to reduce the environmental impact of businesses. The adopted approach starts from the ground up - from considering how to reduce their environmental impact before production begins and selecting components and processes that meet the eco-criteria.

Patagonia’s environmental activism and demonstrated commitment, for example through the use of E-Fibers, makes it a compatible partner with bluesign.

Jill Dumain, environmental analysis director of Patagonia, commented: ‘Bluesign technologies is a very interesting partner to help us reach our goal of reducing the overall environmental footprint of our business.’

She continued: ‘The people at bluesign technologies are very knowledgeable about the textile supply chain and have made a progressive step forward by looking at the beginning of the supply chain. This approach allows Patagonia to be environmentally sensitive in our decision making on the front-end of manufacturing.'
