Scottish housebuilder to go ‘zero carbon’

Leading Scottish house building company, Stewart Milne Group has announced plans to radically improve the eco performance of the houses it builds. They are producing a prototype zero carbon home equipped with micropower technology, such as mini wind turbines, and water saving devices.

Friends of the Earth Scotland has welcomed the news but points out that every Scottish home should be carbon neutral. Liz Murray, Friends of the Earth Scotland's energy campaigner says: 'almost a third of Scotland's climate emissions come from our homes. We urgently need Scottish Ministers to set ambitious targets for micropower generation in new developments, and to set an early timetable for removing the planning barriers currently holding back these technologies.’
