Treeflights plan an offset scheme in the Amazon

For £10 Treeflights will plant a tree for each flight you book. Over the last 20 years, founder Ru Hartwell has been behind 17,000 trees planted in the Welsh mountainside.

Recent research, by Ken Caldiera of the Carnegie Institute, has reported concerns about planting in the north, indicating that planting in certain regions doesn’t help the climate.

Treeflights believes there are benefits to planting in the north and that the company’s considered woodland management does offset CO2.

However Treeflights is now working with Ashaninka tree planters in the Peruvian Amazon, and is hoping to give customers the option of planting mahogany trees down there in the near future, if they are concerned about Caldiera’s recent research.
