Wardrobe of Nature steps forward

Anni Rapinoja’s shoes are not typical of an environmental activist.

The mythical-looking footwear is made from plants. In fact the whole Wardrobe of Nature collection, which also includes yeti coats and bags for eco-power-dressers, is made using natural materials such as common reed, bilberry and tea-leaved willow.

Rapinoja’s inspiration is obviously nature, but more specifically the overlooked fact that humans actually need the environment and are part of the whole eco system. Her work reflects the humans and environment as one, rather than two separate entities.

The complete Wardrobe of Nature will be on display at Italy’s Arte Sella from 30 June to 30 September 2007.
