Wrap up your kid’s birthday with Ethical Party Bags

Birthday parties aren’t complete without handing out party bags at the end. Usually this means plastic bags with balloons, or similar uninventive design, on the side, filled to the brim with tasteless jumble like plastic yo-yo’s that break almost instantly.

If that sounds familiar you’ll love these new Ethical Party Bags, which come ready filled for girls or boys.

The girls can reuse their party bag, which is made from recycled juice cartons by a women's cooperative in the Philippines. Inside there’s a pad and pen made from recycled materials in the UK.

The bag aimed at boys contains a mini Fairtrade football in a 100 per cent recycled bag, and both bags contain a Fairtrade chocolate wafer and a wordsearch.

At £6 (girls) and £6.25 (boys) a pop, they’re not cheap and cheerful, so they’re great if your child’s having a small party but maybe not if you’re inviting the whole class, unless you’re willing to push the boat out. The contents make the bags a good choice for all school age children.

Add a slice of cake and send them home smiling while you get on and vacuum the fair trade crumbs off the floor.
